Our first community project

Art Library

This project was well received by all 32 participants living in Thanet.

Everyone was introduced to new artists, genres and art movements each week.  With the pack of paints, pencils, soft pastels, oil pastels, brushes, sketch pads and portfolio everyone was able to explore ideas and to copy inspirational work from the books.

The response was overwhelming in diversity and depth of experimentation. The weekly delivery became a regular chat about art and life on the doorstep. Some were inspired to continue with their new found interest. Some discovered artists previously unknown to them developed an understanding of both technique, colour, paint application and composition.  Many had not used acrylic paint before but overcame their fear to embrace the new, creating beautiful explorations in colour and developing a sense of achievement. A couple of participants were so enamoured with a book that they had bought their own copy.

We would like to thank The National Lottery Fund for their support funding this project which has bought much joy into peoples lives and hopefully a new interest to pursue and develop.
